Longer description

Epoch Studio turns a manuscript into a connected writing workspace. Authors import a draft or begin with an idea, and Epoch builds a living model of the book: its characters, locations, scenes, relationships, and chronology, each tied back to the passages it came from.

From there the same project carries the work to a finished form. Authors draft and revise with AI that works from the story’s own established context, create character portraits and scene illustrations, compose illustrated pages, proof the layout, design a cover, produce audio, and export—without assembling a pile of disconnected applications. The author decides what the AI may suggest and what becomes part of the book.

Epoch is local-first. It runs downloadable text and image models on supported hardware, and after the initial downloads its core local AI can work offline. Project files stay on the author’s computer unless they deliberately connect an optional cloud provider, and Epoch does not use manuscripts to train models.

About the founder

Chris Kantz is an author and the founder of Epoch Works LLC. He wrote the 476-page novel Dancing in the Dark and is at work on The Nile’s Redemption, an Egyptian historical fantasy. Epoch Studio grew out of the practical difficulty of keeping a long manuscript coherent across years of revision. He is its developer, its support desk, and the voice in its product tour.
