Epoch keeps the work on your machine. That means the download is substantial, and local AI benefits from capable hardware. It also means your manuscript, project files, and core writing tools remain useful offline once setup is complete.

ImagesLocal image generation
Image generation is optional. It is the most demanding local feature: an NVIDIA GPU with 12 GB VRAM is recommended for FLUX-class image generation. Writing, organization, and export remain available without it.
OfflineAfter setup
Epoch Studio stores projects on your device. The app can work offline after the installer and any local AI components you choose have been downloaded. Adding a new local model requires extra disk space; Settings shows what your machine can run before you ask it to download anything.
