Questions worth answering plainly.
Epoch is a desktop studio for authors who want a connected book project without turning their manuscript into a cloud prompt.
How much will Epoch Studio cost?
The planned Windows launch price is $49.99 USD, paid once. Public checkout is not open while final launch checks are completed. There is no Epoch subscription or per-token fee for the local tools.
Does Epoch Studio work offline?
Writing, project storage, and export work offline. The installer and any additional local components need an internet connection to download. Once local AI components are installed, core local AI can work offline too.
Is my manuscript used to train AI?
No. Projects live on your device. The current desktop release has no hosted AI provider, cloud inference, or bring-your-own API-key configuration for manuscript AI work. Read the privacy policy for the exact boundary.
What does the AI actually do?
It can help authors draft, analyze, question continuity, work with story entities, and support the connected production workflow. The author decides what is canon and what belongs in the manuscript.
What computer do I need?
Epoch Studio launches on 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. A baseline machine has 8 GB RAM and a 64-bit quad-core processor; local image generation benefits from an NVIDIA GPU with 12 GB VRAM. Read the measured requirements.
Is Epoch Studio available for Mac or Linux?
Not yet. macOS and Linux releases are planned, but no availability date has been announced. Windows is the current launch platform.
Can I buy or download it today?
Not yet. The Launch Desk carries the direct-launch status, and Field Notes sends launch invitations when the final checks are complete.
